forbidden

I forbid you to reminisce about me
Like a favourite song you heard in the past
Our memories are not yours alone, nor free
For your perusal or to make it last

I forbid you to talk about us
Like something broken enough to mourn
Because you cannot lose
something you didn't learn
You cannot turn the page that was torn

I forbid you from saying my name
Not out loud, nor a whisper
That unique sound echoes the wasted place, that flame
Burns and yearns for an itch like a blister

I forbid you to look me in the eyes
My glasses will slide up to store a lie
The truth will wear a disguise
When I smile, you can go ahead and call me sly

I forbid you to ask about my life
The curiosity, I assure you, breathes inside me just the same
The rugged knots, loose ends were chosen by me to untangle, but I chose the knife
Stickler, stubborn, selfish and shrewd, those are all mine to claim

If this is how it was fated and it is how it ends
For the sake of all your virtues and wise
Then either god had mercy or it bred a sinner
So, I forbid you from committing a vice
