gaze

I do not know
what love is.
Maybe you can tell me
if it feels like this.

Walking side by side
you seem to stand taller
stride of a soldier on a mission
the brisk and the risk
a tad too much for a cake
that's sold by the station.

Holding each other when our insides
come out, the monsters that peek
the bruises that speak of the
memories that slow and show
the growing burden of the weak.

when the streaks of the evaporated salt
over the mounds of my face
the sniffs that are masked after.
and when the red branches
in your eyes and your lashes
fight to hold the weight of the sea.

your eyes search for my gaze
you gauge like a sage
your pupils playing
ping pong with mine
i dodge and you engage
and when my eyes search for your sight
you step over my last step
my movements wistfully tracked
a bit lost and but mostly
like the stars with twinkly lights.

when i feel your presence like a magnet
pulsating and vibrating at the boundaries
of my existence
and when i contain the energy you cannot withhold
within and beneath yourself
my self becomes a mirror for your sense
my sense of the world becomes your only reality.
the only truth to exist.
the gospel of time itself.
the word of your only faith.

when you become my shadow,
I embody you.
and You, me.
