i met my ex one day
the smile on my face
when i met him the other day
he asked me if i was happy
i said its the absence of that snail
the slug that left a mark where ever it goes,
it appears to be tired all the time but is it tired?
he traced his fingers on my hands
he missed me he said
well he did visit me a few hundred times a day,
a few years ago.
he asked if i did too
i laughed, and he got his answer as no
he kept me on my toes,
made my heart flutter
gave me butterflies
but with cold feet and good old clammy hands.
we saw nightmares together
he fueled it,
i tried to extinguish it with my breaths.
but it only grew
one day when he was away,
i may have cheated on him with someone else
but what can i do!
she was different
i kept her on her toes,
she whispered in my eyes
she showed me through her ears
that love overflows in her heart
and i had just scratched the surface.
i looked at that face in the reflection
in the eye this time, she looked so scared
the blush that matched her red eyes
but still stood so tall and unscathed
and the smile breached her quivering lips
the feeling, oh so underrated.
he looks at her like
like he saw himself in the mirror
he got up his chair
makes his way down the stairs
i guess he knew its farewell.
